Description

European Bacteriological Agar is a natural hydrocolloid extracted from algae belonging to the Rhodophyta phylum (red algae), including Gelidium, Pterocladia, and Gracilaria spp. Bacteriological Agar is a mixture of linear
polysaccharide agarose and agaropectin molecules, and serves as a gelling agent for the preparation of solid culture media and other microbiological applications. Main advantages of this particular agar, are the absence of
growth inhibitors of microorganisms, it´s excellent transparency, and high hysteresis. In comparison with American Bacteriological Agar, European Agar used at the same concentration results in higher gel strength.
