IPTG (max 5ppm dioxane)

IPTG (Isopropyl ß-D-thiogalactopyranoside) is a lactose analog that mimics allolactose, which triggers transcription of the lac operon by inactivation of the lac repressor. As such, IPTG can be used to induce protein expression of heterologous proteins that are encoded by genes under the control of the lac operator.

Description

IPTG (Isopropyl ß-D-thiogalactopyranoside) is a lactose analog that mimics allolactose, which triggers transcription of the lac operon by inactivation of the lac repressor. As such, IPTG can be used to induce protein expression of heterologous proteins that are encoded by genes under the control of the lac operator. Moreover, it is widely used in combination with X-Gal in blue/white screening assays of bacteria harbouring recombinant vectors. GRiSP´s IPTG is at least 99% pure and has an extremely low content of dioxane, a compound that has a negative impact on normal cell function.

Preparation: IPTG is effective at concentrations ranging from 0.1-1.0 mM. Prepare a stock solution in the range of 0.1M – 1M (1000x) using ultrapure water and filter sterilize. Aliquot and store at room temperature or 4ºC for up to 1 month. For longer periods, store at -20ºC.
